Winged Elm – Ulmus alata

Tree with short trunk and open rounded crown. Height: 40-80’ / Diameter: 1.5’

Leaves: in 2 rows; 1 to 2 ½ inches long; elliptical; often slightly curved with sides unequal; doubly saw-toothed; dark green and hairless above, with soft hairs beneath; turning yellow in autumn. Bark: light brown; thin; irregularly furrowed. Flowers: greenish, clustered along twigs in early spring.
