Leaves are small and dark green, changing to yellow and orange in autumn. Flowers are white, pink, mauve, or purple with crimped petals.

Frost tolerant, prefers full sun and will grow to 20 feet tall, with a spread of 20 feet. Native to China, Korea, and Japan.
